Attended the six meter BBQ today here in Austin, met K3LR, and several other hams who are avid 6 meter enthusiasts.

The room was filled with so much talent and wisdom, I felt like a total noob! I learned so much today, and have been energized to get on 6 meters with some more effort next 6 meter season.

The more and more I eye the Flex radios, the more I want a 6000 series. Learned more about the newer 6400 being released soon too. David, from Elecraft was there, I had just seen him at HamCom in Plano. Flex & Elecraft are the top choices of DXpeditioners worldwide and I learned why today. Flex is also working on an adaptive predistortion radio project like the Anan is. If you’ve never heard a signal with adaptive predistortion, it’s quite literally the cleanest signal I’ve ever heard on the air.

A big thank you to DX Engineering & FlexRadio for hosting this event and inviting me out to document the very educational presentations!

I met several folks with whom I’ve had a QSO with before, which is always awesome to put a face to a callsign. Bout the nicest group of folks here today.

I’m making several part series videos to split up what would otherwise be a long video. But here are a few photos and memories from today’s event.

I plan on making this a regular occurrence every year. Some interesting stuff can be done with 6m with relatively small antennas up not too high. This I need to be taking advantage of in my situation.

Well…. when I thought that brain of your’s was totally fun of fun facts, you go out to another educational forum stuffed with even more neat details.
When are you going to call me so we can share some of this info, huh ?? Also… I love working with copper pipe, and have already built one
break-apart Six Meter Copper J-Pole that seems to work quite well. I’m sure you have all kinds of antenna ideas that will belittle my lowly J-Pole, but if you wish, I would be happy to fire one up for you to add to the “farm” Just say the word !! 73 N4BRM the Voice Of The South šŸ™‚
