APRS Route to HamCom 2017!

HamCom 2017 – Irving, TX

Took a 3.5 hour trip to North Texas with KJ5VB this morning. My three takeaway points from this hamfest –

  1. iCOM  – you guys are the friendliest folks around – what a great bunch of people – and wow – what a display! Excellent way to display and feature your products and engage your customers. A+ (I’ll be sure to religiously enter the Hams to Japan contest now!) That iCom 7300 is looking more gorgeous everyday.
  2. Elecraft – Excellent presentation today – I learned why Elecraft is the choice of DXpeditioners & serious contesters worldwide. It’s also pleasing to know that this company really listens to its customer base and adapts its products accordingly – they are truly at the top of their game!
  3. Kenwood – blah… just blah… I was a bit disappointed once again in the Kenwood display this year – come on Kenwood! Spice things up a bit…

All in all, another hamfest success, lots of eyeball QSO’s. There wasn’t much of interest in the swap meet section for me this year, but I was able to snag a few small oddball adapters I’ve been looking for and a new rigblaster for digi modes.
