Short post.. I’ve been wanting to craft a Q&A video for sometime on YouTube.

Answering questions and sharing my experiences are two of my favorite parts of ham radio! The question doesn’t have to be Amateur Radio related though, maybe you have a question about me? Not that I find myself that interesting, lol.

Questions can be anonymous or I can even throw in a clip of you asking the question!

Maybe you have a question about radios, antennas, operating portable, or in an apartment, whatever it is, if I don’t know, i’ll find out!

Sometimes it’s difficult for me to explain and cover everything in 5-6 minute videos, but i’d like to start a Q&A series, and interact with YOU more!

Hope to hear from you! Comment, email, shout at me on the radio your questions!

Hi Johnny. Curious to hear about your results with your magnetic loop receive antenna. I’m thinking of adding one to reduce the noise floor on 40M. I’m using an inverted V dipole. Any luck?

Hi Johnny, enjoying your posts. I am an old timer but still learning new stuff. Very interested in more reports on Vertzilla. Got parts for my own but WX been too cold or windy to try it out.

Hey Phil, Vertzilla it is! I’ve had lots of questions on that antenna. I use a milk just filled with rocks to weigh mine down in the backyard. Tripod has a little hook on it.

Hi Johnny, thanks for the nice video and the shoutout, much appreciated. I just picked up a Silver Bullet Mini based on one of your other videos. It should be way easier to tune than the Buddipole coil. I had a Buddipole/Buddistick once and did find it to fussy to tune. Instead of the MFJ whip I got the Buddipole adjustable shock-cord whip and a couple 22 in arms so I can be full-size on 20 if I don’t want to use a coil. The gallon jug with rocks is a good idea. I’ve used those type of weights too. I just hope my video tripod is up to the task, worst case I’ll look for a used one more like yours. I have the Versatee bolted to an L-bracket mounted on the 1/4 stud. The stud may be a weak spot. I looked for U-bolts and couldn’t find the right size. I am just waiting for a nice enough day to spend some time outside testing. Keep up the interesting videos.

You’re welcome! Spring is coming soon, weather will be better in no time. I’m also ordering the smaller one, I rarely use 80m portable.
