Ugh! I feel like I’ve been out of pocket forever! Rest assured… I’m still alive. This time of year gets really busy for me at work. Next month I’m scheduled to work 50 hours of overtime! I don’t mind the extra pay though 😉
I’ve had plenty of requests for this how-to video on connecting your Kenwood TS-480 radio to a computer so you can get on the air with digi modes. Since the 480 can be connected directly to your PC sound card with a 6-pin mini din cable to 3.5mm plugs (x2), it’s easy to get up and running without any kind of special device, but in the video i’ll explain why using an isolated sound card is generally the best option.
I didn’t even realize that after I had finished editing the video, I had to go back in and point out some RFI that I was experiencing on the waterfall that was showing up every 60Hz or so, something being picked up by the antenna due to a power over ethernet camera system that I use… but it was good to point out this interference which is quite common!
